The sounds recorded by me are a kind of documentation, attesting the degree of wear of selected public facilities located in Warsaw and Białystok.
Time leaves its mark on elements of public space, such as doors, gates, housing-estate gym equipment or playground devices. The ageing of individual mechanisms remains unavoidable. Part of the recordings was transformed, some of them becoming considerably different from their original form. The final outcome is a musical piece, which is a composition of the aforementioned audio files.
In the summer semester, I focused on physical phenomena occurring in nature and their cyclic character. The melting of snow, which can symbolise the period of youth, is associated with something transitory, elusive, sometimes difficult to grasp. The recordings made by me are an audio record of the moment when water drops hit against the surface. Metal, paper, glass and plastic surfaces were used in the recording process. The resulting files were processed to a varying extent and then became parts of a bigger composition.
