In the presented work I try to define youth by juxtaposing it with old age, which is understood as the awareness of transience. Youth is not aware of its youth. By that logic, an attempt to express youth consciously is its betrayal in a way, and the most sincere expressions of youth are accidental and unconscious. Youth can be defined consciously only from the perspective of old age, which is more sentimental than sincere. My work focuses on the unconscious aspect of youth, or rather on the denial of the awareness of old age. Making use of family photographs, I erase all adults from them.
This gesture shows the functioning of the world of youth, in which old age does not exist. It is also a desperate attempt to stay young, an infantile defence mechanism pushing unwanted old age out of consciousness.
