The Faculty of Graphic Arts, which was established within the structures of the Academy in Warsaw in the second half of the last century, is the largest faculty at the Academy – with more than 400 students. Graphic arts as a discipline of fine arts have a very rich tradition, deeply rooted in European culture and art. It also has the widest possibilities – both in terms of creation and techniques – of all artistic disciplines. It integrates fine arts: traditional graphic techniques, drawing, painting and design art in the broad sense of graphic design, with substantial support from contemporary media and technology.
The works of students presented at the ONLINE 2021 exhibition are only a small fraction of last year’s output, although they fully demonstrate the nature and specificity of the classes conducted at the faculty. They also present the versatility of students and their complex skills, often going beyond the narrow specialisations. I encourage you to read a more comprehensive overview of their artistic achievements. In my opinion, the Faculty of Graphic Arts emerged unscathed from this period, difficult for all of us and for education, and for this I would like to thank all our employees and students.
