Design is present in all spheres of life today. Not only industrial products and graphics are designed, but also services as well as shared and personal space. Students are urged to solve the real problems faced by societies and their individual members. It is accompanied by the belief that design is likely to become one of the most important factors influencing the future of civilization. A particularly important area of focus in the studies’ curriculum is the shaping of responsible attitudes among designers – attitudes aimed at triggering positive social changes and creating production which would not be detrimental to the natural surroundings. Social and environmental design sometimes challenges the design understood as a response to market needs, but in turn tries to see the needs of marginalised people and the needs of other species.
